Careers in Communications
During my time in CMNSU, we upgraded the traditional networking event to a 2-day comprehensive conference, encompassing Communication professionals in all sectors so that students may learn new insights through round table discussions. Hosting experts from companies such as SAP, the David Suzuki Foundation, Daily Hive, the Vancouver Canucks, Roland, and more, this event provided invaluable knowledge so that students may grow their professional profile.
How we sold out a two-day conference
To avoid the traditional eye rolls when one hears the words “networking event”, we wanted to bring some brightness to Careers in Communications, turning the grey’s and blues of business casual into a more uplifting scenery. With this in mind, our social posts, decor, staff uniforms, and more were all cohesive in sight, demonstrating how event marketing content translates into real life representations of what you said your event would be. Through using various strategies of in-class presentations, digital advertising, organic posting and print distribution, we were able to reach students of all undergraduate years and beyond, welcoming peers from other universities in our attendance as well. By focusing on how conferences can be useful for students, using relatable posts with clever captioning, we reached our event capacity, giving dozens of students the opportunity to learn from Vancouver’s finest Communications professionals at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront.
