FrontRvnners Streetwear X CMNSU Workshop

For this event, we partnered with local streetwear company Frontrvnners Streetwear to celebrate a hoodie created in collaboration with the School of Communication. Not only was this event a pop-up merch shop, but it also provided students with an opportunity to hear from entrepreneurs in a panel discussion on how to start their own ventures. As a result, we had to create an event consistent with the Frontrvnners brand in order to accomplish two goals, one being to sell the collaboration hoodie, and the other, to provide a meaningful experience for students to aid them in their future careers.

Our Strategy.

This event presented a unique challenge in that our job was to merge the brands of the School of Communication and Frontrvnners Streetwear in a cohesive way, presenting the event as an in sync representation of how these two organizations partnered together. At first glance, one might find this to be difficult as one entity has an academic, education-based mission, while Frontrvnners Streetwear represents the most current trends with Vancouver streetwear in a sales-based business.

By creating images using polaroids to showcase the SFU School of Communication hoodie, we were able to allude to Frontrvnners’ more rugged brand of the Vancouver city scape, using our own team members to model the merchandise similarly to how Frontrvnners markets their products. By using SFU students in our efforts, we added a school-based face to the product created in this collaboration, encouraging students to see themselves in this hoodie, while yearning to hear the insights of the Frontrvnners Streetwear team in how they can become successful in a start up. See Frontrvnner’s Instagram here that we referenced in the development of our event branding.
