EVOLVE
EVOLVE was our take on a typical college FROSH. In providing a welcome event for first year students, our goal was to help them start the beginning of their undergrad on the right foot with an event to make friends, build connections, and participate in the SFU Communications community. As a result of our marketing, event planning, and creative strategy, this event sold out, hosting 90 incoming students, older undergrads, faculty, and alumni.
Our Strategy
For this event, we were keen on emulating a bright patio scenery to ensure students felt that their school year was starting with the optimism that their summer had. In this way, our event branding was key, using imagery of palm leaves, neon patio lights, and more to breathe life online into what was just an event concept in the beginning. Working in collaboration with a creative team of designers and event planners, we targeted incoming students with our marketing strategy. As project manager of the marketing team, I ensured we covered all our bases through consistent posting schedules, print material distribution, on-site guerilla marketing at other events, collaborative posts with other SFU organizations, giveaways, and e-newsletter partnerships, and Facebook group marketing were all part of our outreach, resulting in a sold out event.
